Meet Richard – a dog person and an explorer
How have your first months at McCann Helsinki been?
Wonderful. The team has been so welcoming and fun to work with. There is a real sense of everyone caring about each other and wanting to help achieve the best we can as a team.
What has been on your mind lately?
I’ve lived in Finland for nearly a year now and I am starting to feel I have found my own place and rhythm here. It can still be hard being away from my family in the UK but I wouldn’t change living in Finland, everything makes sense to me here.
What kinds of activities energize you?
I enjoy learning new things or exploring new places. Since moving to Finland I have discovered so many amazing places that give me a new insight and perspective on Finland.
What do you like the most about your job so far?
The diversity of clients and the team effort that goes into everything we do.
What is your favorite place in the whole world?
My family has a holiday home in Angelsey, a small island in North Wales. My family have been going there since the 1970s, it is our second home and a lovely place to relax and be with family and friends. It was so great to take my Finnish partner and our dog, Vauhti there and have it become a part of their life as well.
Your title is Production Art Director – what do you tell your relatives you do for work?
I use words and images to help convey ideas, inform, and inspire people.
If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, in what other profession could you see yourself in?
I’ve always fantasised about being a spy, as it seems like such an exciting job but in reality, I would probably work with dogs in some way, maybe at a guide dog school, and help train and care for the guide dogs.
What is your motto?
Fortune favours the bold!
