Meet Salla – A ramen enthusiast and wanderluster
How is it going?
Thanks, yeah things have been good. A bit hectic for me as I am adjusting to a new country, job, and lifestyle, but all very exciting at the same time 🙂
What has been on your mind lately?
Ramen. Words cannot express my love for ramen. Please let me know where the best ramen places are in Helsinki, especially any Tsukemen style ramen!!
What’s the most recent change in you?
Well, I just moved over to Helsinki after living the majority of my life in Hong Kong, so I guess that’s a pretty big change! I’ve been learning to embrace my “Finnishness” and am slowly adjusting to a completely different kind of lifestyle here in Europe. This summer I am planning to immerse myself into Helsinki and Finnish nature, with a ‘back-to-my-roots’ kind of mindset.
What is your motto?
“Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will” – I always want to push myself to try new things, even if they aren’t in my comfort zone.
What is your favourite place in the whole world?
Not really a place but a feeling, when you step out of the airport at a completely new place, and you get those slight butterflies in your stomach when you realise everything is new and all the exciting adventures you’re about to embark on!
If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, in what other profession you could see yourself in?
I would be a guide and journalist for a travel company such as Lonely Planet. I grew up watching their travel shows and was always so intrigued about all the unique and beautiful cultures, food, people and places we have here on Earth! I love to travel and explore, so the chance to be paid to do that would be absolutely amazing!
Your title is “Strategic Consultant” – what do you tell your relatives you do for work?
I create plans for world domination.
What do you like about your job?
The fact that I get to do a lot of deep thinking, research and problem-solving. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love nothing more than a difficult puzzle because the satisfaction at the end when you solve it is incomparable.
